At the UWAKE poetry meet up at Soma Book Cafe on 20th August, teased by ‘Call Me’ for a theme three poets responded with:’What you’re thinking’ by Lisa; ‘Nipigie Call me by Demere and ‘Common Thread’ by Caroline.
We also heard Two poems with no titles dedicated to ‘Father and Mother’ respectively from Steven as well a poem by Victoria which she had sent via email titled ‘Perfume’.
There was humor, serious and always that unveiling of personal inner musings that poetry can give…we’ll tell more on the comments received for ‘Perfume’ as she wasn’t in the session…
‘The line about ‘commander….princess’ reminds me of my mom’ Lisa remarked with a knowing smile.
Tendai-‘Reminds me of a poem I wrote about shoes that was relating to my mom…’
Steve-‘Very beautiful’…
Carol-‘the perfume transcends a literal perfume it’s as though she’s talking about the essence of her mother…’ to which Demere asserts ‘She is talking about the personality of her mother…
It was interesting indeed be sure to make it next time, meanwhile the theme for our next meet on the 3rd September is ‘For a long time’
