Poetry Club :Last two sessions review!!

UWAKE is the name for the poetry club meeting at some twice a month, coordinated by Caroline Uliwa. The first session took place on the 2nd of April at Soma Book Café.

There were six of us. Poetry renditions include: ” The Dance” by Oriah Mountain Dreamer; ‘No title’  by a Tanzanian Activist, ‘Siasa Gani Hii’ by Ms Demere, ‘Lunch About Death ‘ by Caroline and ‘No longer at Peace’ by Jasper… It was a quiet and cozy beginning. What was great was the feedback we shared…. candid but gentle we all gave and received constructive feedback.

On the 16th of April we met again. This time round there were eight of us:  Jasper, Demere, Tendai, Happy, Jomu K, Rose, Siobhane and Caroline. The theme was ‘These Times we Live In’.  Four poems were recited by: Tendai, Jasper, Caroline, a friend of Jasper and  Demere introduced us to a concept of half poem by sharing her work in progress…. we had a lively discussion and feedback that led to a selection of Identity… as the theme for our forthcoming meet up on Tuesday 30th.
